Win a Chance to Open for Jake!

Are you ready for a little YouTube fame that’ll get you onstage to open for ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro? Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is currently hosting a contest where fans can compete for a chance to open for Jake at the  San Francisco international Asian American Film Festival (2012 SFIAAFF) on Wednesday, March 14, at the Castro theatre in San Francisco, California. 

CONTEST RULES:

1. Create your own audition song video and upload it to YouTube. You may submit a maximum of 2 songs, for the first round only.
(tag it Ukulelestar and CAAM. If you’re on Twitter, #Ukulelestar)
2. The song must be originally written by Jake himself.
3. Email the link to jakecontest [at] caamedia [dot] org with your name and phone number. All entries must be submitted by midnight on February 20, 2012.

The winner will be responsible for any transportation & hotel if necessary. However, travel support to the winner will be considered.

That’s it!  Our panel of esteemed judges will then select five finalists for the final round of voting and that is when we turn to you, the YouTube community, on February 20-26, to help us choose the winner!

CAAM will announce the winner on February 27, 2012

Jake's first-ever transcription book will be release on February 7th by music publisher, Hal Leonard. Featuring note-by-note transcription of Jake's 2011 release, "Peace Love Ukulele," the book will contain his original songs and his renowned covers of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Hallelujah." It will also contain two additional bonus songs, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Hula Girl."

This Sunday, January 15th @ 2PM ET, tune in to see Jake explain why the ukulele is the instrument of peace and why he believe's that if everyone played the ukulele, the world would be a better place.

Jake will also be doing a live interview on NPR affiliated radio station, 91.1 KPBX (Spokane, WA) on Tuesday, January 17 at 11:30AM PST. Tune in to hear a preview of his Bing Crosby Theater show.

January 4th will mark Jake's Peace Love Ukulele album, One Year Anniversary! Jake has spent 2011 touring the US and Japan promoting this album and he has reached some amazing milestones. Peace Love Ukulele debuted on Billboard's World Charts at #1 and #4 on their Heatseeker's Chart. Rolling Stone named Jake "Best Ukulele Hero" in their "Best of Rock" issue and Jake even made his way to Jimmy Kimmel's stage to perform, "Bring Your Adz." 2011 was a great year for Peace Love Ukulele and for its One Year Annivesary we'd like you to celebrate with us!
