TOASTMAN INC ESTABLISHED THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION “MUSIC IS GOOD MEDICINE”&nbs
June 11, 2009HONOLULU, Hawaii (May 20, 2009) – Toastman Inc. (ukulele virtuoso, Jake Shimabukuro’s management office. President, Kazusa Flanagan), created the program “Music is Good Medicine” with the mission of inspiring individuals via music to serve their community while maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle. Jake has had this mission on his heart throughout his life and will act as the organization’s key spokesperson.
The “Music is Good Medicine” program originated in 1998 by a large independent physician group but ceased in 2004. Jake decided to revive the program and officially began to establish it in January of 2009 and has been progressing since then. He said, “I've always believed that everything in this universe is connected. We are all entangled in a web of energy. Music helps us to tap into that energy and discover things that we never thought possible. Music is good medicine because it allows us to express ourselves. And by simply expressing ourselves, we project that positive energy back into the universe which ultimately makes the world a better place.”
The primary mission of “Music is Good Medicine” is to use music as a vehicle to inspire people to serve in their community while maintaining a healthy life style and positive attitude.
Jake will collaborate with other artists and organizations that also support the mission to act as role models of the organization. The program’s activities include school visits, senior care center/hospital visits, charity events, and community outreach programs. Through these visits and programs, “Music is Good Medicine” strives to inspire, heal, mentor and educate the community with music as the primary tool to reach into the hearts of these individuals and make a difference in their lives.
Music is a universal language that connects with people of all ages and cultures. Music has the power to heal, influence lives and provide hope. “Music is Good Medicine” supports the community by uniting those interested in helping others in time of need with the primary focus of influencing children, who will be the future leaders in our society.
