Salt Lake Elementary Fun Fair – Oahu, HI
April 24, 2010On Saturday April 24, 2010 Jake Shimabukuro and MIGM had the opportunity to participate in the Salt Lake Elementary annual Fun Fair. Salt Lake Elementary, home of the Dolphins, put together an amazing day that consisted of games, rides, food and entertainment. Many families from the Salt Lake community attended this exciting event.
The Dolphin Stars, the talented kids of Salt Lake Elementary, performed many songs in front of hundreds of proud parents. Following the Dolphin Stars was a group of Taiko Drummers who impressed the crowd with their drum and dance routine.
MIGM had a booth set up throughout the day, where we offered free ukulele lessons to the fortunate students who attended. The students received instruction from Bruce Shimabukuro, owner of Ukulele Essence, and Christoffer Salvador, instructor from Ukulele Hale located in Kaimuki. The students were so excited and eager to learn. MIGM also had the opportunity to spread its message to all who visited our booth by passing out free stickers and flyers.
Later in the day, Jake Shimabukuro performed several songs such as “Let’s dance,” and “Piano Forte.” In between songs Jake shared personal stories such as his recent experience performing for the Queen of England. It was a beautiful sunny day as Jake chose to sit in the sun during his whole performance. The crowd requested an encore, so Jake played one last song entitled “Crazy G” to please the crowd.
MIGM had a great time at the fun fair. We were so blessed to be a part of this family fun day and interact with the community of Salt Lake. Thank you to Traci Haleamau and the staff of Salt Lake Elementary for making this special event possible.
