Lanakila Pacific Center - Oahu, Hawaii
July 10, 2009Lanakila Pacific Center celebrated its 70th anniversary on July 10th, 2009, and MIGM was there to support the joyous event! Jake performed for many Lanakila staff, volunteers, donors, government officials, and more. As great as Jakes performance was, Lanakila Pacific Center’s very own performers, TLC Hands in Harmony, a very inspiring group of individuals, put on a wonderful show as well!
Jake first offered touching words of encouragement and spoke about his admiration for Lanakila Pacific Center’s great milestone while promoting Music Is Good Medicine by spreading the word of the healing power of music. Jake later played “Blue Roses Falling”, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, and Jake’s own rendition of Jimmy Hendrix “Purple Haze”. Jake really got the crowd excited and cheering when he played the song “Me & Shirley T” from his Live album. Jake bounced around on stage and did his lightning-fast, percussive strumming for the solo. Everyone applauded Jake’s performance as he thanked the crowd and ended his set.
Later, Lanakila Pacific Center’s TLC Hands in Harmony performers took to the stage. The very courageous group spread smiles and happiness throughout the room as they danced in tandem to songs such as Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, two of Whitney Houston’s songs, “One Moment In Time” and “The Greatest Love”, and a fun, upbeat dance to “Because” by The Dave Clark Five.
Jake gave an awesome performance, as did the TLC Hands in Harmony performers. The Lanakila Pacific Center visit was a truly rewarding experience that Jake, along with Music Is Good Medicine, was proud to be a part of. The whole event turned out to be a great 70th anniversary celebration for Lanakila Pacific Center!
