If everyone played the ukulele the world would be a better place

It was fate (and I believe a good amount of luck) that brought Jake Shimabukuro along with other MIGM support staff to spread the word on choosing to live a drug-free lifestyle.  My principal, Stanley Tamashiro, shared MIGM’s business card with me as he knew that we were looking for a guest presenter for our upcoming Drug-Free Assembly.

Knowing how busy and packed Jake’s schedule must be, with travelling worldwide to share his talent at an international level, I considered Ewa Elementary blessed to have Jake and the MIGM crew here at our very own campus.   When I reflect on how things all fell into place, we are truly blessed to have Jake share his passion for his music and his commitment to living a drug-free lifestyle.  Jake’s enthusiasm and sincerity permeated the audience at Ewa’s Drug-Free Assembly, so much so that everyone there, teachers as well as students, were enthralled by his performance and his passion for music and spreading the word of living a healthy lifestyle.   It was with a big collective “Awwwww!” that resounded in the cafeteria when Jake stated we were near the end of the assembly, as the students were enraptured by Jake’s deft strumming as he mesmerized the audience with his extraordinary talent and love of the ukulele.

It is with deep gratitude that we at Ewa Elementary would like to extend to Jake Shimabukuro and MIGM for spending some time with us to promote the drug-free lifestyle and to inspire our keiki to believe, achieve, and succeed, by pursuing their interests and passions and steering clear of drugs.

Mahalo Jake!
