If everyone played the ukulele the world would be a better place

Music is Good Medicine

Friends of Kehau Aloha Jam

March 05, 2010

Jake and MIGM participated in this fundraising event for baby Kehau Sullivan. Baby Kehau was born with heart problems and as a result required immediate heart surgeries. This health condition caused large medical bills to accumulate and left the family with over $150,000.00 in out of pocket medical bills.

To help support the Sullivan family, Pancho Sullivan (father and famous North Shore surfer) along with Joni-Lee James, put together a musical event lined up with lots of local talent and extensive giveaways. Jake and MIGM helped to show support by providing an informational booth and also giving away a free MIGM Ukulele! Jake would also perform later in the evening to a packed house at Hard Rock Cafe - Waikiki.

After the event was over, we were pleased to hear they had raised over $14,000.00! 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Kehau's Medical Fund with a personal donation being made to the Ronald McDonald House Charity San Diego on behalf of the Sullivan family.

Donation items remaining from the benefit including a signed Fender guitar from all members of Pearl Jam and signed prints from Kelly Slater taken by Sean Davey will be auctioned online and will be announced via Friends of Kehau Sullivan.

A special thank you to the major sponsor Rip Curl for their generous support in making the benefit an brilliant success. Without Rip Curl's contribution we would not have been able to put together such a well prepared fundraiser of which over 500 people enjoyed.

A very big thank you to our incredibly talented musicians and artists ~ anjj lee, Anthony Natividad, Brother Noland, Dion “Boogie” Scott, Guy Cruz, Jake Shimabukuro, Jay Alders, John Cruz, Johnny Helm, Keith Batlin, Micah Wolf, Mike Love, Pat 'the Hat', Sean Davey, Starr Kalahiki, Tavana and their respective band members. Not to mention our wonderful Sound Engineers from Precision Sound ~ Darren, Lono and team.

And thank you to “Team Kehau” ~ Boogie, Jess, Tiff, Marc, Pat, Dani, Jamie, Emily and Sean for your passion, commitment and hard work.
