Time To Explore - San Sebastian, Spain

After last nights show, and the amazing response Jake received, we were really anxious to get out and experience the Spanish lifestyle. We have until about 9pm this evening before sound check...plenty of time to fill out minds with fresh memories. Mark miraculously found a gem of a restaurant which had a good selection of Gluten Free dishes.

How he finds these places, we do not know. But Mark is the  real deal tour manager...because he finds these places, then gets you there. No questions asked. I have been trying to find the words to describe how unique and down right breathtaking the streets of San Sebastian are. Well, sorry, I don't have much words to describe this. You just have to see for yourself.

Here is the restaurant Mark picked out for us

In Spain, you commonly eat in a style called "Tapas". This style is basically just like Izakaya in Japan where you order a bunch of small dishes, kinda like appetizer style. Everything is laid out on a bar and you just point and choose the stuff you want.

Hungry yet? Jake actually had a few fans sitting just down the way from us, and asked him to come over and chat with them.

After a fantastic lunch filled with Spanish flavor, Mark and I indulged in a cup of Cafe con Leche (Coffee with Milk). This had to be without question THE BEST cup of coffee either of us had ever had. Mark had not consumed coffee in over 10 years....and he will contest that today's coffee was worth breaking a 10 year streak for. It was that good.

Now its time to roam! Im going to save the commentary and let you see all of this for yourself.

Enough said. I really like the car that parallel parked in-between the two dumpsters. That was a crack up! Imagine if that was on your driving test..hehe.

We ended our walk at yet another large beach which was just up the way from the Festival. The beach was seriously packed full with people...not much room for extras. A typical beach day in San Sebastian seems to include a lot of activities. People are playing volleyball, squash ball, throwing balls, etc. Many are surfing and body surfing in the small waves. Families are out, couples, and of course the younger generations just grouping together.

We paused here for a short while, and I heard Jake say "Wow...this just changed my whole perspective on life". I think we all could relate...

How cute is that train!?! Such a great day of exploring and experiencing the culture of Spain. I think we could all come back here and forget that life on the outside world actually existed. In San Sebastian time seems to escape you and all expressions of reality are lost in the winding authentic they call "Calle's".  - Streets.

Tonight, Jake wraps up his Europe tour with a final show in San Sebastian. I must admit, I'm actually sad this day has come. But I'll save the emotional outpour for the last blog entry....
